Il genio inquieto del Rinascimento
 
 
Le quarantaquattro opere in mostra, molte delle quali provengono dai più importanti musei internazionali, rappresentano il culmine artistico della produzione di Lotto.  
Dopo i contatti intrattenuti con artisti quali Giovanni Bellini e Giorgione a Venezia, Bramante e Raffaello a Roma e Leonardo in Lombardia, il grande pittore trovò in Bergamo una sorta di patria ideale.  
Circa un terzo delle opere esposte in mostra è espressamente riferibile al periodo trascorso dal pittore in Bergamo: tredici anni, fra il 1513 e il 1525, in cui il Lotto raggiunse le forme più alte e limpide della sua arte.  
La mostra è stata realizzata in collaborazione con la National Gallery of Art di Washington e curata da Carlo Bertelli, David Alan Brown, Peter Humfrey, Mauro Lucco, Giovanna Nepi Sciré e Francesco Rossi.		 The forty-four works in the exhibition, many from some of the world's most important Museums, represent Lorenzo Lotto's finest artistic work.  
After meeting artists such as Giovanni Bellini and Giorgione in Venice, Bramante and Raffaello in Rome and Leonardo in Lombardy in the course of his career, the great painter found a kind of ideal homeland in Bergamo.  
About a third of all the works exhibited are directly linked to the period the painter lived in Bergamo, between 1513 and 1525: thirteen years during which Lotto achieved his most lofty artistic creativity.  
The exhibition is being held in cooperation with the National Gallery of Art of Washington and is curated by Carlo Bertelli, David Alan Brown, Peter Humfrey, Mauro Lucco, Giovanna Nepi Sciré and Francesco Rossi.
